By length: 24 one-syllable names, 99 two-syllable, and 40 with three or more — averaging 6.3 letters. The shortest options are Egg, Fig, Brie, Chai, Chia; the longest are Butterscotch, Gingersnap, Clementine, Cheesecake, Cappuccino. Syllable counts here are estimated from spelling, so treat them as a rough guide rather than a phonetic analysis.

Worth thinking about: Food names date faster than most, and some read very differently outside their original language or region. Say it out loud somewhere public before deciding.

Dogs are the one species here that will be called by name across distance, in traffic noise, and while distracted. That makes everyday audibility the deciding factor: a name has to survive being shouted, and it has to not sound like the cues you train with.
